Training Description

Mobile Crane Inspector / Crawler Crane Inspector is in charge of the overall inspecting the cranes parts and hoisting to ensure that all lifting work to be carry out in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to the regulation and to sound established crane specifications, customs and practices, which will be covered throughout the entire sessions. The course is designed in such a way that it combined theoretical, videos, interactive programs and live sessions for the participants to be able to adapt the new way of learning.

The course will also cover crane capability and understanding crane stability during set up and the lesson learn of failures either from stability point of view or crane structural strength. The course is suitable for senior Leaders or riggers who intent to become Lifting Supervisor or Site Supervisor who will determine whether the crane is safe, suitable and can be used at workplace for its intended use at worksite as determine by the legal requirements or Technical Lifting Plan. The course will also stress on the importance of understanding the roles and responsibilities of crane inspector / Plant Machinery Inspector in performing the lifting in Complex Lifting, Critical Lifting and Lifting with more than one crane.

Safety officers, crane operators, maintenance personnel, lifting supervisor and anyone responsible for crane safety and inspection in industrial settings.

Workshop Learning Objectives

At the end of course, the participant should be able to:
Understand the legal aspects in terms of lifting activities as according to the Malaysian legislation OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, international practice LOLER, PUWER, API, BS7121 on crane
• Observe general safety-first rules and carry out his duties in a safe and responsible manner in inspecting and accessing the crane as well as crane operator.
• Have knowledge of the crane specifications and their crucial pillars of inspection (Stability vs Structural Strength)
• Have a full knowledge of crucial items to be inspected either visual inspection, functional inspection or safety inspection (API Standard and Australian Standard and BS 7121-1: 2006 Part 1: General: Code of Practice for safe use of Overhead cranes)

  • Able to identify damaged parts of components that effects crane condition.
  • Understanding and ability to perform the overall inspection and determine the crane conditions accepted to be used at worksite.

• Produce necessary reports for clients and further inspections
