2 Days (16 hours contact over inclusive assessment (60 Minutes)

Training Description

Basic Rigging & Slinging is in charge of the initial work of erecting the load and to ensure that all rigging work is carried out in a
safe and efficient manner, adhering to the regulation and to sound established customs and practices, which will be covered

throughout the entire sessions. The course is designed in such a way that it combined theoretical, videos, and interactive
programs and lives sessions for the participants to be able to adapt the new way of learning. The course is suitable for

fresh/senior workers who intent to become rigger/signalman at worksite as there are no prerequisite entry requirements for
this. Site Supervisor, Lifting Team Members / Supervisors or even safety personnel are encouraged to join the session to

enhance their skills in their daily management tasks.

Workshop Learning Objectives

At the end of course, the participant should be able to:
• Observe general safety-first rules and carry out his duties in a safe and responsible manner as Rigger / Signalman
• Have knowledge of safe working load of the crane surroundings, the hazards associated at workplace and managed them
• Understand the legal requirements (OSHA 1994/FMA 1967) and have a full knowledge of hand signal (API Standard of
Recommended Practice 2C/2D) and Australian Standard and BS 7121-1: 2006 Part 1: General: Code of Practice for safe use of cranes) & UoC CPCCLRG3001A, LOLER and PUWER Requirements.
• Understand the lifting gears and attachments names, selection, inspection and correct type of sling, hook shackle etc. for load.
• Have knowledge of the use of lifting beams, slings and chains.
• Ability to understand use of rope, chain and shackle.
• Ability to understand not to use damaged wire rope or fibre rope, slings or chain where the links are not free or kinked wire rope.
• Ability to understand when slinging a load, pack between sling and load at all point where load has sharp corners, so as to prevent damage to sling.
• Ability to read and interpret routine / normal lifting plan assigned for rigger/signalman.
